The Canadian Journal of Environmental Educationis a refereed journal published once a year. It seeks to further the study and practice of environmental education by providing a thoughtful forum for researchers, scholars, practitioners, and post-secondary students. There have been many discussions about environmental education research. Much has been made, for example, of the contest between qualitative and quantitative methodologies. While this has been important to the advancement of research in the field, we need to do more. We should give additional attention to the questions we ask and then seek methodologies most suited to our inquiries.

Environmental education research has not often enough employed the analytical work of philosophers, various forms of participatory inquiry, feminist critique, historical interpretation, narrative inquiry, and so on. These methodologies offer useful new possibilities and the Canadian Journal of Environmental Educationcan provide a vehicle for their expression.
